The 7 Types Of Blogs That Make Money Like Clockwork

By  Marty L.

There are so many people who make a comfortable living online.  Sometimes it makes think to yourself, “How are these people making an income with their websites and what types of blogs can make money?”  Well, it’s a good thing you’re here because in this article we will talk about the different types of blogs that make money and how you can do the same thing.

Building a profitable niche website shouldn’t have to be a daunting thing.  In fact, you’ll see how these people went from earning nothing to replacing their income across different niches.

In this article I give you 7 examples of types of websites that make money and they're all in niches outside of digital marketing.  I did this because I'm tired of seeing all the monthly income reports from blogs that blog about blogging.

I want to give you something new.

The types of blogs that make money are:

  • Parenting blogs
  • Millennial lifestyle blogs
  • Pet blogs
  • Food blogs
  • Fitness blogs
  • Beauty blogs
  • Lifestyle blogs

Obviously, there are many more types of blogs that can earn an income online.  I'm just focusing on these seven because my research proved to be fun and interesting.

The Common Traits Of The Types Of Blogs That Make Money

There are several key factors that allow these rock stars to earn a living online with their websites.

The first trait of these types of websites is that are all authored and run by people who are passionate about that space.

You will see through out this post that these people have a burning passion to serve their market, be it writing about their pets and helping fellow pet owners, or how to look your best when traveling the world.

A lot of these people saw a problem and couldn't find a good solution, so they started their own blog to address those issues.

Another factor is their content.  Most of the content you find on these types of website tend to be evergreen, meaning they stay relevant for a long time, even years.

Parenting Blogs: A Fiercely Passionate Market

Life is crazy and can be even more insane when you have children.  There are a lot of burning questions out there when people enter into parenthood.  Questions like:

  • "How am I going to raise responsible human beings in this crazy world?"
  • "How do I know if what I'm doing won't mess up my children for the rest of their lives?"
  • "Insert problem that keeps your readers awake at night."

The blog that I'm going to feature in this section is a combination of parenting and being frugal.  This is great because what parent isn't willing to save a few bucks?  Kids are expensive!

Amanda runs the website The Frugal Mom Guide.  She started five years ago and saw that it was a good supplement to her income.

The Frugal Mom Guide Income Report

Amanda published income report on April 10th, 2019 so at the time of this writing, it's fairly fresh.  The income report is for the month of March.  She earned $200.54 for that month with nearly 30K pageviews.  Personally I think she could have earned a lot more with that kind of traffic, but I bet she isn't complaining about it!   You can check out her income report by clicking or tapping on the 'visit website' button.  I've also included her Twitter just in case you wanted to reach out to her and congratulate her on her success.

Amanda earned her money through a service called Mediavine, a service that is similar to Google's Adsense program.

This website is the perfect example for people who don't know how to make a digital product, or for those who don't know all the techy stuff to create a paid membership site.  Just write about what you love and with good coaching along the way you can cash in checks from an Adsense like service!

An extra $200 a month doesn't sound bad, does it?  Lot's of other people are doing it, ain't no reason you can't have a piece of that pie!  Good news is, you can learn how to build your very own income generating website too!  For free!  Click the link below and take the next step to build the website you've always wanted to build.

Looking Good Abroad:  A Beauty & Travel Hybrid Blog

If there was a great merger between two niches, it's beauty and travel.  Who doesn't want to look their best when traveling the world?

Meet Liana.

Liana has actually had this blog for almost three years and began to take it more seriously in the last year or so.  April 2019 was her 10th month of income being generated from her blog.

Liana Desu Income Report

Liana's total report income for the month of April, 2019 amounted to $3,461.75.  Not bad for less than a year's worth of work!  You can view Liana's income report by clicking or tapping the button.  I've also included a link to her Twitter in case you wanted to get a hold of her.

Liana publishes her income reports for two reason:

  • transparency
  • to help aspiring bloggers

Being open and honest with your audience about how you make your income works really in a lot of niches.  People appreciate you being open to them.  In return, you generate more trust with the people who read your posts regularly.

She's also inspiring people by showing them that making money with a website on the side is a very real possibility.

Wouldn't it feel great if you could introduce and help at least ONE person to building their own income generating website?

The vast majority of her income comes from MediaVine, the same company I mentioned above.  I can see this easily changing in the near future if she starts recommending more products for affiliate sales.

Millennial Blogs:  Those Can Make Money?!

I found this one to be quite interesting and I'm going to be keeping an eye on the success this blogger brings with her hard work and dedication.

Meet Joanna Rahier of the Millennial Lifestyle blog.

Joanna Rahier:  The Blogger for Millennials.

Joanna earned $391 in the month of March, 2019.  This was only her 4 month of consistent work.  All of her income is generated from affiliate sales across different networks like ImpactRadius and Shareasale.

Joanna writes about a variety of subjects on her blog, such as:

  • bullet journals
  • travel destinations
  • morning routine tips
  • podcasts for millennials

Even without buckling down on one subject and dominating the search engines, Joanna is still making an income on topics as varied as listed above.

Given the young age of her website, I think it would be a safe prediction that she will be earning a little over one thousand dollars a month from her blog in about 12 more months.

And Joanna LOVES doing what she does.  It's absolutely exhilarating to make money online.  Even if it's something as small as a few dollars, to a couple of hundred dollars a month.

Food Blogs:  Elizabeth Chloe's Mission

Meet Elizabeth Chloe, a food blogger with a mission.  She wants to add value to the food recipes niche by providing meal recipes that are both simple and healthy.  She's loves to cook and loves food.  Creating a thriving food blog is what she was meant to do.

Elizabeth Chloe:  Food Blogger

Elizabeth made all of her money from ad serving networks like AdSense and Gourmet Ads.  In the month of 2019 she earned a total of $25.69.  Not bad for a gig where you do the work once and it stays online forever.  Elizabeth has been blogging for less than a year.  If she upgrades her Pinterest game, she could KILL it with traffic and get even bigger AdSense commissions.

There are a lot of other digital marketers out there that write about other people's income reports, but they always feature blogs that are in the "make money online" niche.

I wanted to give you a variety of niches, but I also wanted to show you that these are real people who are earning real money.

Sure, 25 bucks might not be a lot for some people, but that's 25 dollars you otherwise wouldn't have earned.  That's 25 dollars toward one of your bills.

And the best part of it all is, once the work is done it begins to rank in the search engines and slowly build a trickle of traffic.

If Elizabeth tweakers her Pinterest strategy and continues to add fresh content, I know she can earn a lot more in the coming months.

Fitness Blogs:  Get Paid To Get Healthy

Meet Chantal of Ironwild Fitness.  She became a stay at home mom and started blogging in 2014.  Her blog served as platform to talk about motherhood, fitness, and other things about life.  She kept things personal and you get to see the real Chantal.

Chantal From Ironwild Fitness

In the month of April, 2019, Chantal earned a total of $133.71.  The majority of her income came from her own product and an influencer network called, Activate.  The smaller portions of her income came from affiliate sales from Amazon, Swagbucks, and a hosting company called Siteground.  You can visit her website and Twitter account by activating the buttons.

In her income report, Chantal says that $133.71 was entirely passive.  I don't know about you but I sure as hell wouldn't complain about an extra hundred bucks deposited into my account for doing nothing (after the work has been done, of course).

I should also mention that this is the first blogger covered in this article to have her own core product.

The simple fact that she has an information product to sell and the infrastructure to sell it passively...  well, you can see how great that is.

Pet Blogs:  Barking For Business

One of the types of blogs that make money is in the pet niche.  I would like to introduce you to Jessica from Pet Blog Biz.  Pet Blog Biz is her consultancy website, where she teaches other people how to become profitable pet bloggers.

screenshot of pet blog biz dot com

Jessica of Pet Blog Biz

Jessica's income report is a bigger than the others I've covered in this article.  She covers the entire Q3, the months of June, July, and August.  In the month of June, her blogs generated a total of $10,946.00.  The months of July and August were in the range of 5 thousand dollars and seven thousand dollars.

I should also mention that she has another website (the actual pet blog) over at "You Did What WIth Your Weiner".  I can't get over that site name!  It's a pet blog, I swear!

A significant portion of the income generated by her websites comes from her consultancy fees and serving ads from MediaVine, to the tune of around $6K total.

Jessica has done a wonderful thing with her websites and she's reaping the benefits of her hard work.  She deserves every success that comes her way.

Being honest and transparent, Jessica does state in her income report that she doesn't get to keep all of the money.

Taxes take 30% right off the top and then there are expenses that have to be paid, such as:

  • web hosting
  • virtual assistants
  • outsourcing

This is a perfect example of what it looks like when your website begins to bring in real money.  The higher you move up, naturally, the more time and expense will be required of you.

Lifestyle Blogs:  Have Something Interesting To Say Or Show?  Start A Lifestyle Blog.

Happy Nifty Blog is a lifestyle blog that is pulling in some decent income.  According to this blog income report from May, 2018, this website generated $1,040.85.

Happy Nifty Life

One of the most common themes of all the websites I've featured in this post is their use of Pinterest.  In fact, the folks over at Happy Nifty Life even mention that they worked on their Pinterest game in order to achieve the results they wanted.  And I don't blame them.  Pinterest was the main source of traffic for one of my older book review websites (which has long since been put on the back burners for now).

Ad networks like MediaVine is also another common theme I see.  I personally wouldn't sign up for an ad server like that but that's because I know I can get a lot more ROI with different methods.

Even then.  It's not a bad gig for something that is mostly passive.  You just have to be willing to put yourself out there and earn what you deserve.

Conclusion:  There Are Many Niches You Can Make Money In

You've seen it yourself!  You can make money in a lot of different niches.  The blogs that I covered here don't even scratch the surface of how many different niches generate an income.

I know people who are crushing it in niches like:

  • numerology niche
  • Halloween costume niche
  • teaching birds tricks niche
  • how to build a shed niche

I even know someone in a metaphysical angels communication niche that is pulling numbers you would not believe.

I can literally write hundreds of blogs posts about the types of blogs and niches that make money.  The only thing that it really comes down to is this:

Are you willing to step up and create something people will love and thank you for?

That's what I'm doing and I want you to come with me.

Let me know in the comments below if you're just starting out your digital marketing journey or if you've been in the game for a while.
